So I'm off to a great start, I didn't go today. Aren't I naughty? Consequently I don't know if my prac for Marine Mammals, Reptiles and Birds is on tommorrow. Whee, I get to go on a field trip to Seaworld for that subject, how good is that?!
Once again debating about whether to buy textbooks- I don wanna spend my tax return on textbooks!
Well, I have a lecture at eight tommorrow, for which I have to leave at 7, so I must away.
Ciao all,

Howdy all...

Once again practising my favourite method of procrastination- that is reading old LJ posts and thus making myself miserable. Isn't that awesome? Actually I am not that miserable (or, perhaps, not any more miserable than normal) I have been reading Men Are From Mars (Hey, shut up, at least I'm trying huh!?) and am sorta filled with all 'I CAN do this!' type feelings. I also bought Dr Phil's Relationship Rescue on Ebay. I love Ebay.
I'm off the contraceptive pill now, I have a sneaking suspicion it's making me depressed. So now my sex life involves condoms, ugh. Life is tres hard. Hehehe...
Oh, and in case you are wondering I'm procrastinating about doing study for my re-scheduled Stalinism exam which is now tommorrow. (Yes, I know, that sucks ALOT.) Considering changing antidepressant- this whole eating thing is a bit demoralizing, and god knows I have enough mental issues to deal with without body image being brought into the picture, hey?
I'd just like to re-iterate that anxiety is hell. Not that I'm having it that bad at the moment, just a general observation that it does, in fact suck. Okay kids, back to work (or procrastinating).

Jun. 21st, 2006 | 06:32 pm
Here's the list of things I want for my birthday, for those of you who are interested.
Oh, I just bought myself the new Matisyahu album, so scratch that one, eh? You can also visit my wishlist at amazon.com. Just search for neri.star@gmail.com to find me, m'kay?
New things added whee! (More new things 24/07!)
-a ceramic hair straightener- a friend has a cool Remington brand one from Kmart or Target or somewhere, only 40 bucks!
-a nice japanese inspired dressing gown- not one of those gaudy red or blue ones, but a nice cream one with maybe flower or japanese lady type print. (Yes, this will be hell to find, I have a pretty good picture of what I want, just I can't find it anywhere. Teehee.)
-a good quality ceramic hair straightener
-as always, I like pretty jewelry, though this is pretty tough, I am quite picky, and have little fingers/wrists so it will be hard to get the right size... but necklaces earrings etc, you can't go wrong
-pretty nailpolish. I'm going through a massive girly phase at the moment, m'kay? Today I decided my polo shirt wasn't feminine enough.
-voucher for bras n things- wooo lingerie. Nuff said.
-voucher for naughty but nice- come on, I love sex toys!
-a nice new handbag and/or wallet, my wallet (beautiful dark red fiorelli, mm) is on the way out, and my bag will probably follow soon, much as I *sniff sniff* love it!
-book voucher
-art supplies- brushes, nice paint, oil pastels especially, canvases
- good quality blush (probably better to get me a voucher for this, what with getting the colours and all)
-a ticket to Placebo (tell me if you buy this one, so I don't buy it for myself)
-a massage/facial somewhere nice, I've never had one before!
-buffy dvds
-the post secret book
-good quality black mascara and chocolate brown eyeliner
-a body shop gift voucher

Writing stupid Russian History book review. I'm a bit stuck- I don't know whether to rehash the book point by point and say what I thought, or just sort of say what I thought of the book as a whole and pick out examples? I want to do the first one, but I'm not sure it's what you're meant to do in a review and I only have 1000 words to do it in. I am procrastinating here, of course. The book was really interesting to read, and I thought it was really solidly researched (like, half of it's bulk is bibliography, and a quarter of each page is footnotes) and all cool and stuff. Can't I just submit that? *grin*
Started reading Feast For Crows last night, cause I am totally not reading enough books right now, six isn't at all enough surely. My current inability to finish books at the moment isn't really bad, just cause I'm reading a huge one "A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth, and some non-happy ones, like this one by the guy who wrote American Psycho who's name I can't remember (and am too lazy to google) which Puckey gave me, which just isn't escapist enough right now. Who wants to read about real life, man, where are the dragons and fairies and shit? Bwahaha. Must return Erin's Discworld books and get more. Man, livejournal is great for procrastinating, and stream of conciousness style typing. Dum di dum, look at me babbling on.
Isn't it nice not to have an angst ridden post for once? That's nuff said about that. On thurs night I am having a bit of a movie night again, cooking dinner for everybody too. Really I can't afford that but I appear to be doing it anyway. The novelty of me wanting to organize events again is enough that I'm so pleased I don't care how much it costs and how poor I am. (Yes, I know I should.)
Puckey and I are going to Garuva on Friday night, should be cool, not too expensive either, he can't afford for us to go to places like I go with Z and others. Hence me cooking on thursday, I am kitchen queen! I am thinking of making either fajitas or vietnamese rice paper wraps...both are cool, and kinda fun cause everybody gets to make them you know. Though for some reason fajitas seem like a 'main' and rice paper wraps don't, even though they are both essentially the same thing. WEIRD. What do you think? I guess cause I'm used to having them as an entree at The Vietnamese in the Walley, even though I had them as a main at Dad's when Thuy cooked em. Odd, odd odd odd. Okay, my fifteen minute slacker break is almost up, back to reviewing I go.
First real post in ages, woot!

New Years Resolutions, a review...
Jan. 2nd, 2006 | 09:55 pm
So around this time last year I posted some new years resolutions and it's traditional for me to do a review and see which I achieved.
*does so*
Okay, so zero percent success rate on the serious resolutions is not technically good.
I did get my P's, but not til June. I didn't write regularly, except here. I didn't learn to sail or move out, but I did buy a car. I took up pilates, so that's one activity. I also played squash for a while so that's good too, right? No sevens, but some spectacular sevens on essays, which is still a first. So I suppose despite not achieving to the letter of my resolutions, I did alright. Should just word them more carefully.
As for the silly ones, yes, I kissed a girl this year (and a whole lot more!) and also acquired my lovely portable music, yay nano!

The hills are alive with the sound of...hip hop....
Dec. 16th, 2005 | 04:37 pm
I'm really getting into Aussie hip-hop at the moment- really liking it, after seeing Tzu and the Winnie Coopers last night, and listening to their albums that I bought, they're really great.
Tzu are good because they're also a bit political, which I really get, rather than a lot of American hip hop that gets played over here- about life in the ghetto and bitches and hoes, or whatever, with half naked girls gyrating in the clips, I don't get that.
I've also been listening to The Herd and the Hilltop Hoods as well, same sorta thing, sometimes political, sometimes fun and silly, it's pretty cool. Yay!
Ciao,
n

01. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before? Really enjoyed my job!
02. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Some, I usually average around fifty percent. I think that's pretty damned good!
03. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
04. Did anyone close to you die? My great grandmother.
05. What countries did you visit? Just here, this year.
06. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005? More cuddles!
07. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? LOL Um, I'm not big on dates. But probably meeting Paul in real life for the first time. Life changing moment, I guess. That'd be the 4th of July.
08. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Becoming much saner than last year. Thankyou Annette!
09. What was your biggest failure? Nothing major, forgetting to say my positive affirmations every day. Whoops!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I got a mother of a cough for a while. Otherwise not really, pretty healthy over all!
11. What was the best thing you bought? My CAR STEREO!
12. 3 Favourite Bands of the year? Epicure, Ben Lee, Love Outside Andromeda.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Meeting Paul.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005? Probably The Mountain Goats, This Year... even though this year wasn't actually that sad for me, not warranting 'I am gonna make it through this year, if it kills me' type lyrics. But still, that's the song.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, much, yay!
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Cash poorer, but asset richer!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Cuddles!

30. What was your favorite film of this year? A Very Long Engagement. I know, it didn't come out this year. But I saw it this year, so there.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was 20, I went to the Ekka, and then went out drinking with dearest darlingest Viv and Paul, a sweet boy tried to pick me up when I was taken, then I went for pancakes at 3 am! Was an awesome birthday. Well, actually that was the weekend before my bday, I spent my bday crying and panicking, but no matter.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Reading more!
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005? I wear things I like. The End.
34. Did you get any piercings in 2005? No.

37. Who did you miss? Vivian!
38. Who was the best new person you met? Vivian!
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005: Anxiety is not an appropriate reaction to anything that isn't immediately life threatening.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: I dunno...I'm tempted to go for something dramatic and self-pitying, but it's been a pretty damned good year... so maybe She Gets Up by TZU. Cause I loved it so damned much this year!
Ciao,

Summer of Music continued!
Dec. 16th, 2005 | 03:09 am
Just got back from seeing the Winnie Coopers and TZU at the Miami Tavern on the Gold Coast- they were great!
Bought some cds, had a bit of a chat to some of the guys (I am a groupie now!) got my cds signed, and made fun of hard core hip hop people.
It was so good, I might go see them when they're in Brissy on saturday, whee!
AWESOMENESS!

I managed to double book myself for saturday night- got the work Xmas
party- (costumes beginning with R that I can go out to the Valley after
in, come on people!) and also bought a ticket to go with Daniel and
Erin to He Died With a Felafel in His Hand.
BUGGER!
I am going to the work party though- Felafel should be good, but I have read the book, and can always watch the movie if I get desperate. I am well tired now, just got back from dinner and a movie, we saw The Proposition. I haven't properly digested it yet, but it was pretty powerful, great soundtrack, as is to be expected with Nick Cave in charge. Very tough movie though. We went to this little boutique cinema in Rosalie called The Blue Room- similar idea to Gold Class, a little more personal and cheaper- was really nice, actually, and the food was great too. Very friendly service as well. Check it out!
Anyway, work at 8 30 and all that shit, more details later if you want.
Ciao,

Ciao,
Neri

The Backstreet Boys are touring.
I MUST GO!
I loved them when I was younger, how could I possibly miss this?

Ahh, the delightful Queensland tradition of comparing the amount of damage to your house/car/suburb after a thunderstorm. We had lots of hail here, it was awesome provided your car wasn't out in it. Looked like it had snowed!
